Magnus Carlsen's DOUBLE* Bishop Sacrifice vs the Caro-Kann
Featured here is a chess game between Magnus Carlsen and Wang Hao from the 2011 Tata Steel Group A Tournament. Once Carlsen captures Wang Hao's light-squared bishop in the Caro-Kann Advance variation, his plan is to play on the kingside and break with h5, a strategy that is not easily prevented. From move 12 onward, Carlsen plays like Stockfish, eventually sacrificing one bishop and then offering up the other.

Vasyl Ivanchuk's Reverse Benoni crushes Alekseev
Просмотров 11 тыс.7 часов назад
Featured is the chess game between Vasyl Ivanchuk and Evgeny Alekseev from the 2009 FIDE Jermuk Grand Prix. With the extra tempo in a Reverse Benoni, Ivanchuk is allowed to play more freely on both wings without encountering any pressure against his base point (d-pawn). Ivanchuk's play on the kingside reminded me of an instructive and forceful pawn sequence played by Mikhail Tal in his memorabl...

Judit Polgar's Rossolimo Attack wins in 17 moves
Просмотров 60 тыс.19 часов назад
Featured is the chess game between Judit Polgar and Pavlina Chilingirova from the 1988 Chess Olympiad (Women). Twelve-year-old Judit Polgar chooses the Rossolimo Attack and quickly undermines Chilingirova's center with a c3/d4 advance. Polgar's gambit play allows her e-pawn to be established on e5. The main focus at that point is to coordinate with this invasive pawn and build an attack towards...

Judit Polgar's BEAUTIFUL ending vs Gata Kamsky

This chess game between Gata Kamsky and Judit Polgar from the 1994 Buenos Aires Sicilian Chess Tournament features a beautiful ending. Carlsen chooses the Dragon variation of the Sicilian Defense, and parries Firouzja's attempt of a dark-squared bishop exchange with 8...h5. One way to view Firouzja's decision to castle kingside is that it made h5 less meaningful. Watch as Firouzja, with pawn play al...

Your voice is so relaxing and clear..hehe
hello
Jerry is the best when it comes to didactic chess videos..! What a great teacher.
Polgar still hold every record in women chess...only women top10 amongst men...highest point ever 2680 or so....women world ranking leader 20+ years without break...olympic champion etc
Man. 97% is suspiciously accurate. Someone should review this Kramnik fellow.
The Tale of the Tape looks like a slowly building tsunami. Nice analysis, Jerry.
Thx Jerry
Thanks for watching 👍
OK that was weird... Now I'm suspecting the Jerry doesn't even realize he has a podcast and basically records himself talking to his pieces every day about his games and just uploads that without giving it a second thought. Is this the monologue that goes through your head during every game? "Bishop, where do you want to move? Yes, let's go after the weak light squares!"
An internal dialogue is key. 😎
Queen not even moving and still having influence over the position XD. It's such a power.....move? Non-move?
Is this Caro Kan or Slav defense?
So is it the rarest move still? And does play to computer games count in the? I need answers
So, did Carlson just solve chess? I'm only half joking here. But seriously, how do you play against something like that? It's like Jerry said, straight from the opening they're just seems to be no good answers to anything he's done. I guess the one thing I'd have to take a deeper look at is the one inaccuracy in the beginning but come on, this is just insane.
great videos, have been watching since i was in high school. back in late 2000s. im in my 30s now
Thank you. Glad you’re still tuned in. 👍
Must be painful… to lose by only 1 inaccuracy 😅
Hi Jerrry. I've been subscribed to your channel for quite a while, but I've never made a suggestion about a game, and I would like you to review Karpov vs Topalov in Linares 94.
Thank you for the great content, super instructive
And thank you for watching. 👍
Average centipawn loss: 7, ouch. That is the kind of score the analysing engine often gives to full-strength Stockfish, because it does not fully appreciate the deep ideas at its level.
Wang Hao with only 1 inaccuracy.. but it is one too many against Carlsen. Amazing!
8:18 I found the idea of "calling a team meeting" and imagining what the pieces would say they'd like to do, very helpful. Also entertaining. Thanks, Jerry
Team meetings are key. 😎
didn't resign earlier b/c didn't take young player seriously
Very instructive and not to fast!
👍
Has Magnus ever not played like Stockfish though? 🤔
great as ever Jerry. You're the man
It does not matter if it is 11 pm, 8 pm or 4 pm. It does not matter if I lie down, sit or stand. One thing is for sure in life: I will, with 100% certainly, fall asleep during Jerry's video.
😴
Great analysis and commentary. There are a lot of channels telling us what happened, you explain WHY it happened. One request: You made a very instructive comment early on as to "What did Black do wrong?". Once we saw the ending, it might have been instructive to go back and see how a few minor sub-optimal moves by black added up to that ignominious end.
Thank you for the compliment. 👍
Polgar is a beast.
A great win by slow improvement. Thanks Jerry.
Petrosian holding his head into the lion's mouth. His trainer Suetin recalls how they warned him not to play that line, but Petrosian wouldn't listen. Andy Soltis speculated the Champ was tired of reigning. Spassky in his element.
excellent, thank you
Thanks this game provides some inspiration. I had been playing the Karls-Botnivik line.
Thanks for the all the great videos over the years! I’ve learned a lot from you.
This was one of your best instructional videos Jerry, on an already excellent channel. Thank you!
Thank you Dean. 👍
Who tf you think you are😂

How comes it's just now in 2024 i'm discovering this channel?😟
Great analysis as always
I'm enjoying all the bishop content.
